What We Do

Who We Are

Ubuntu Collective is a community-driven space rooted in the South African philosophy of Ubuntu: “I am because you are.” We are a collective of young Africans and allies dedicated to creating safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces for people of African heritage, especially Black queer individuals in Munich and beyond. Born from a heartfelt conversation during Black History Month 2023, Ubuntu Collective emerged from a shared longing the need for spaces where African diasporic voices especially queer voices are heard, valued, and celebrated. Our gatherings are built on connection, sharing, mutual support and offering a platform where lived experiences are honored, and new friendships are formed.

We proudly embrace the rich intersectionality of our community and celebrate the diversity that defines us.

Our Mission

Our mission is to uplift and unite, starting within the African diasporic community in Munich, and reaching into the wider society with solidarity and strength. Whether you're a student, a refugee, an artist, an academic, a parent, or a newcomer finding your footing in Munich, Ubuntu Collective welcomes you. We not only embrace but proudly embody the rich intersectionality within the Black and Queer community and celebrate the diversity that defines us.

“Our space embraces the rich intersectionality of Black and queer experiences and celebrates the vibrant diversity that defines us.” Naa-Ayekai Squire, Founder
